PERFORMANCE
Kia K5

Often the first consideration when choosing a new vehicle is to check out what it equips under the hood. After all, if you’re looking to head out on the highway, you’ll want strong and tough engineering to let you merge seamlessly and conquer the open road.

Power & Capability

The Honda Accord has a standard 1.5L 4-cylinder engine that puts out 192 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque. This will reliably get you where you need to go. Of course, if you’re looking for more of a punch, you can upgrade to one of the hybrid trims that offers 204 net horsepower.

Drivers looking to feel the roar of a stronger engine will enjoy the Kia K5. Its standard engine is comparable to that of the Honda, while its available 2.5L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine generates a truly remarkable 290 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque. This power is harnessed by the available 8-speed dual clutch automatic transmission—something not available in the Honda Accord. A sporty drive is waiting for you in the Kia K5.

All-Wheel Drive for All-Weather Performance

Like any pack leader, the dominant K5 doesn’t stand down when the going gets tough—or when the weather is uncooperative.

In rain, sleet, or snow, you’ll have available traction-enhancing all-wheel drive (AWD) to keep your K5 safely on course! It balances power among all four wheels, so you’ll have on-demand wheel grip when and where it’s most needed. Talk about peace of mind! The Accord only relies on 2-wheel drive and doesn’t off AWD capability.

DESIGN
Kia K5

As you hit the road for a trip to the city, there’s something special about turning heads on the street. Having a vehicle with a sharp and sleek design complemented by a glossy paint job lets you express yourself as you choose.

Exterior Build

Both models offer a range of exterior paint colors ranging from classic hues of black and white to bold shades of red and blue.

Shape-wise, the Honda Accord offers a standard, sturdy frame. The 111.4-inch wheelbase gives it an imposing presence on the road.

On the other hand, the Kia K5 lets you make a dramatic entrance when you round the corner. Its sharp and accented angles make it an athletic marvel to look at. This Kia sedan has a futuristic and dominating aura about it. Its 112.2-inch wheelbase also adds more stability when zipping around corners or making bold maneuvers.

Interior Amenities

Whether you’re heading out on your morning commute, to a weekend getaway, or just running errands, having comforts and conveniences at your disposal can improve every drive. Both the Kia K5 and the Honda Accord deliver.

For example, both sedans have manually adjustable front seats and offer available 10-way power adjustable seats for driver and copilot. They also offer heated and ventilated front seats for year-round comfort. Still, on those chilly early mornings or late nights, only the Kia offers a heated steering wheel.

Speaking of comfort, either one can be equipped with dual-zone auto climate control that allows driver and front-seat passenger to set their individual preferred settings. The difference is that this feature is standard on the K5 and only available with an upgrade in the Accord.

TECHNOLOGY
Kia K5

Modern drivers expect their vehicles to do more than merely transport them reliably from Point A to Point B. They want to have access to technology that can keep them informed, connected, and entertained while on the road—and if it provides peace of mind, so much the better.

Infotainment on the Go

Your phone is an extension of you and goes everywhere you go. The Kia K5 and the Honda Accord make it easy to use your mobile device safely by providing standard Bluetooth® and smartphone integration through standard Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. Both models also offer available wireless charging.

However, you may find it easier to view information through the standard 8-inch touchscreen display in the K5 vs. the 7-inch screen in the Accord. Plus, your tunes and podcasts may sound better through the standard 6-speaker system in the Kia model, compared to the four speakers in the Honda.

For audiophile-quality listening, both models can be upgraded to include a Bose® Premium Audio System with 12 speakers.

Safety on Board

Of course, no tech is more important than the features that help protect you and your passengers while on the road. Kia and Honda take your safety as seriously as you do.

That’s why both sedans come equipped with a standard suite of driver-assistive systems: Kia Drive Wise in the K5 and Honda Sensing® in the Accord. Some of their similar standard features include brand-specific versions of:

  • Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection
  • Lane Keeping Assist and Lane Following Assist
  • Driver Attention Warning
  • Rear View Monitor
  • High-Beam Assist

However, the Kia also comes standard with Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, which keeps an eye out for those areas you can’t see. A similar feature can be added as an upgrade in the Honda.

Two other features only found in the Kia K5 include standard Safe Exit Assist, which warns your passengers from disembarking when the system detects another vehicle approaching from behind. Additionally, standard Rear Occupant Alert in the K5 will provide audible and visual warnings if you’ve left little ones or a furry family member in the back seats.
