We know that Ann Arbor, Belleville, and Canton, MI, drivers have loads of questions about their models. These machines have a multitude of service requirements that tend to generate lots of questions.
How often should I change the oil? Can I get the transmission repaired? What is a brake replacement? How do I get the battery replaced?
LaFontaine Kia is here to answer these and all your other questions, with this service FAQs page. Let us be your guide as you learn more about your ride's service and maintenance needs.
The required frequency of an oil change varies depending on the model you drive, where you drive, and how often you drive. However, a good rule of thumb is to get an oil change approximately twice a year or around every 7,500 miles.
When the oil goes bad, it can have serious side effects on your model. At first, it will simply decrease the performance abilities. You may notice that your ride is less efficient and you have to refuel more often.
Eventually, this can start to impede the model's drive abilities and cause internal damage. The oil lubricates the moving engine parts and prevents overheating. Getting it changed too often, though, won’t have any bad side effects. So, it’s best to err on the side of caution and have the engine oil changed frequently.
If your ride is getting frequent flats but has fairly new tires, a repair could be a good idea. When there's a small hole or a tear in a tire, a service center can usually patch it, making it possible to keep driving. You want to get every mile possible out of your model's tires. So, check with a service team member to see if the tires can be repaired rather than replaced.
Similar to tire repairs, whether or not you should get transmission repairs depends on the situation. As it is an important system, the transmission can be costly to replace. If you’re driving a newer model and start having problems with the transmission, getting it fixed might be a good call.
You can have a service technician check over your ride to help you make your choice!
The brakes are composed of a few systems that will need to be replaced at different intervals. The main things you’ll talk about when considering brake replacements are the brake pads, the rotors, and the brake fluid.
Each will need to be changed or replaced at a different interval:
You should also consult your owner’s manual to see what is recommended for your specific model.
There are a few signs to look out for that will alert you when it’s time for a battery replacement. For instance, if your ride struggles to start or has dimmer lights, the battery might be going. Automotive batteries tend to last around three to five years, so if it’s been a while, it may be time to switch yours out.
